The Perennial Gathering isn’t just another conference. Your fee includes a professional conference, leadership training, and restorative retreat—all integrated through Perennial’s soil-building and Leadership 3.0 methodology.
Professional Conference
A convening designed for meaningful, peer-to-peer connection.
The Gathering includes all the essentials of a great conference—engaging sessions, opportunities to share your work, and time to connect. What’s different is the design. Sessions are collaborative and grounded in real experience. Networking might look like taking a walk through the forest with someone you’ve just met. With a balanced mix of funders, system stewards, creatives, and social change leaders, the pace and scale make space for the kinds of conversations—and relationships—that don’t happen elsewhere.Leadership Training

Each participant joins a small cohort, guided by experienced Perennial facilitators. Through daily Morning Gatherings and interactive sessions, you’ll strengthen your inner capacities, explore our soil-building framework, and gain practical tools for leading with clarity, courage, and connection.Retreat
Held in the forest town of Karuizawa, the Gathering offers time to pause, reflect, and reconnect.
The venue is a Japanese five-star resort where hospitality is a practice of care—you’ll be deeply looked after in every detail. Between sessions, you can step into the forest, walk the quiet paths, or simply rest. Spaciousness is woven into the design, so you leave not just inspired—but renewed.
Pricing (Partner-Supported Rates for Year 1)
For our first year, we are grateful for the support of a partner who is helping offset a portion of overall program costs. This partnership allows us to offer a more accessible bundled rate for this year, while maintaining the depth, quality, and care that define the Gathering. In future years, pricing may reflect the full cost of the Gathering as we build a sustainable model and a growing community of returning participants.
What’s included
Each bundled registration includes the complete Perennial Gathering experience—a one-of-a-kind integration of professional learning, peer-led inquiry, and retreat-level restoration—designed to be immersive, intentionally paced, and deeply relational. Your registration includes:
- Four nights of accommodation at one of Japan and East Asia’s premier five-star resort destinations, set across 450 hectares (1,100 acres) of pristine landscape. The property offers an exceptional blend of natural beauty and refined comfort, with access to walking paths, onsen and spa/wellness facilities, curated shops featuring Japanese cultural and artisanal goods, and a range of recreational experiences.
- All scheduled onsite meals, including daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with hosted receptions—thoughtfully prepared and shared in ways that support both nourishment and connection throughout the Gathering, while ensuring continuity of experience and minimizing logistical burden for participants.
- Full program access, including all sessions, materials, and curated experiences, supported by an on-site team providing seamless coordination, concierge-level care, and logistical support so participants can focus on what matters most.
- Comprehensive visa support, including Letters of Invitation and required documentation, with clear step-by-step guidance and coordination as needed—removing friction for international participants and making arrival straightforward.
This bundled approach is intentionally designed so participants can step into the Gathering with minimal distraction—well supported and free to focus on learning, relationships, and renewal.
Not included: international travel to/from Japan, a train ride from Tokyo to Karuizawa, and any incidental personal expenses.
Family & Companion Attendance
The Perennial Gathering is designed for meaningful engagement and reflection for registered participants. To support flexibility and inclusivity, participants are welcome to bring an accompanying adult family member or partner for an additional fee that covers meals and resort-related expenses.
The Gathering’s program and shared spaces are oriented toward adult participation, community and reflective engagement. As such, there is no programming or supervision provided for children.

Lodging options (selected at registration)
Cottage Setting (Private room within a shared cottage)
Each cottage offers four private bedrooms (each with its own ensuite bathroom) alongside a shared living space designed for informal connection and downtime. The cottage setting supports a more communal, retreat-style experience — space to gather in the evenings, while still having the privacy of your own room to rest and reflect.
This option may be best for participants who enjoy a sense of shared rhythm and proximity, and who value both connection and personal retreat.
Hotel Room (Private room)
Hotel rooms offer a private, more spacious setting located within the main hotel and Gathering hub. This option provides convenient access to plenary and session spaces, as well as direct access to the onsen, allowing for ease, comfort, and quiet restoration throughout the Gathering.
This option may be best for participants who prefer a more traditional hotel experience, additional space, and immediate proximity to program and wellbeing facilities.
